Dr. Margaret Gullette – Age critic

An internationally-known age critic, is the author most recently of Agewise: Fighting the New Ageism in America (2011), a 2012 winner of the Eric Hoffer Book Award. Aged by Culture (2004) was chosen a Noteworthy Book of the Year by the Christian Science Monitor, and Declining to Decline: Cultural Combat and the Politics of the Midlife (1997) received the Emily Toth Award as the Abest feminist book on American popular culture.@ Her work in progress is called The Hidden Assaults of Ageism, or, How Not to Shoot Old People. She is a Scholar at the Brandeis Women’s Studies Research Center. Since 1997 she has found funding for adult-education programmes in her Sister City, San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua.
